Gadget gal: Sony Cybershot TX5

Sometimes you can find surprising things in small packages.

Oh really? Sure, we all have dreams of waking up on Christmas morning, looking out of the sitting-room window, seeing a fancy sports car decked out in a big bow and being handed the keys. Right? We all have that dream, right?

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF.

I was. It's an excellent dream! Having said that, were I to find this hot little number in my stocking, I'd be dead pleased.

WHAT LITTLE NUMBER?

Why, this Sony Cybershot TX5, of course. First of all, it is totally slim, only 17mm and a bit. Secondly, it has a touch screen, which is really sensitive, and highly useful. It allows you to find your way around the settings in a heartbeat. Thirdly, this is one tough little camera.

WHAT'S SO TOUGH ABOUT IT?

It is waterproof, dust-proof, shock-proof and freeze-proof. You can dive down to three metres and still keep shooting. I didn't do any scuba-ing, given recent weather conditions, but the camera got a workout as regards the rest.

SOUNDS GOOD!

Also loads of fun. The panoramic function means you can capture great views, and not only for left to right, but also up and down. I completely recommend this.

The Sony Cybershot TX5 is €379 and available at all good camera shops
