Fashion designer Zoe Jordan has revealed that her mum Marie influences her designs as much as her famous dad - former Formula One boss - Eddie does.

While the fast cars and style of F1 have previously inspired her, Zoe's mother's own sporting background also plays a part in her new Spring/Summer collection.

"There's parts of my mum, who played basketball for Ireland, in there. It's quite clean, experimental, about enjoying that moment ... rather than spending too much on how you look or what you're wearing," the 34-year-old said.

"The focus is definitely on adventure first and having a good time. I got that from my mum, she can just throw things on and look amazing."

memory

Her new collection mirrors her mum's style, but Zoe's recent Autumn/Winter collection was titled Chicane and was inspired by the world of motor sports - where dad Eddie was boss of the Jordan team.

"It was a trip down memory lane," she told Irish Tatler.

"A part of me wants to be taken seriously aside from that world, so it's something I deliberately hadn't touched for a couple of years.

"But at the end of the day that's what's authentic to me, that's what I've grown up with, that's my inspiration.

"We travelled around a lot and were going from deal to deal, it wasn't very structured.

"All the racing drivers would pay board to live with us so we were just immersed in it all.

"So I got Dad's old overalls, old helmets, pictures, it was fun. We played with all the sponsorship branding, all the emblems. One of the logos even has a little shamrock," she added.

Zoe now shows her collections in New York and in what is set to be a great year for the young designer, style.com have named her as one to watch for the upcoming season.

"They're like the Holy Grail," Zoe says referring to the top fashion website.
