Kodaline's Steve 'starstruck' after meeting Susan Boyle

The frontman came face to face with the Britain's Got Talent winner after the band performed at a Scottish festival over the weekend.

Despite having worked with stars including Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid and his actress fiancee Courteney Cox, the Swords native was taken aback when he met the Glaswegian singer.

"It was pretty weird. We were playing at T in the Park last weekend and she just turned up," Steve said.

"I never ask anyone for photos and I don't know what came over me, but I was really starstruck."

The singer described Boyle as being "very odd" as he revealed that she made him wear an authentic Native American headdress while they posed for photos.

"She's a fantastic singer but she's very odd. She came across kind of strange but she's a lovely person at the same time," he told Dermot and Dave on Today FM.

"I walked over and told her she's a lovely singer and I'd like to get a photo with her, and she just pulled this Indian headdress out and put it on my head and put her arm around me.

"It was quite bizarre."

The I Dreamed A Dream star was also pictured in the striking headgear as she mingled with locals at the Perthshire festival.

However, Boyle opted for a more understated trilby hat while she posed for a picture with Steve.

"She lives close to the festival site so apparently she's there every year," he said. "She had a couple of different hats - I have no idea why."

Kodaline weren't the only Irish rockers playing the famous festival, with Hozier and The Script also among the big names on the bill.

Broadcaster Angela Scanlon was also on UK shores to fly the flag for Ireland as she presented the festival coverage for BBC3.
