King Henry and Big Joe get specials treatment
THE drawn final was billed as the shootout between Big Joe and |King Henry ... and now the stakes have been ratcheted up even more in the wake of Joe Canning’s ‘politically incorrect’ terminology when describing the, ahem, leadership qualities of Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin.
So it’s no surprise to see Boylesports offering a sequence of ‘special’ bets, ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC final replay, pertaining to our twin rivals in the talisman stakes.
You can imagine our disappointment, however, upon discovering that the Louth-based bookmaker was not offering odds on the likelihood (slim to none) of Canning questioning Shefflin’s “sportsmanlike” behaviour in any post-match interviews.
Or the prospect that Shefflin might run “30 or 40 yards” to remonstrate with another Westmeath referee about the awarding of a Galway free.
Or even that Kilkenny’s veteran goal machine might opt for a safety-first point if a penalty is awarded. Oh well.
