Killester seek to soar past Eagles

DCU Saints will be hoping home advantage doesn't inspire Moycullen to their first win of the season in the Nivea For Men's SuperLeague, while 11890 Killester take on fellow title challengers UL Eagles.

Belfast Star will be looking for an opening win against UCD Marian, who also hope to get off the mark.

In the Nivea Women's SuperLeague, 11890 Killester have a daunting test at home to holders UL, while also today Ulster Rockets take on Waterford Wildcats and Oblate Dynamos take on Liffey Celtics.

Tomorrow, Meteors face a difficult assignment against DCU Mercy and Singleton's SuperValu Brunell are up against Team Montenotte Hotel in an all-Cork affair.

Despite suffering defeats in their opening two games, Moycullen will be hoping to avenge last weekend's defeat to the Dubliners.

Belfast Star will be boosted by the appearance of American Tyson Johnson, who is 6'6", ahead of their game at home to UCD Marian this evening.

Danny Fulton's side have lost their first two games but an end to the long-awaited clearance of Johnson should help spark a revival.

11890 Killester may have won their last outing away to UCC Demons in controversial circumstances but it marked maximum points for the Dubliners and they will be hoping to make it three wins out of three at home to UL Eagles.

The Dubliners were awarded the points after their game away to UCC Demons was abandoned due to condensation.

Eagles will prove to be difficult opponents, particularly after the arrival of Johnnie Jefferson, who contributed 16 points in their win over Belfast Star.

In the Women's SuperLeague, 11890 Killester will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season albeit against the massive challenge of UL.

The Dubliners will be missing Eimear Naughton, who sprained her ankle in the opening game against Ulster Rockets.

"There really isn't any pressure on us to win because of the strength and power that UL boast," said Killester head coach Mark Grennell.

"UL will be expected to win but we are at home and hopefully we can make that count and cause them some problems."

Elsewhere, Liffey Celtics were dealt a serious blow ahead of their game with Oblate Dynamos with the confirmation that recent signing Orinta Kavaliauskaite will miss the remainder of the season due to a leg injury.
