Kilkenny fearing the worst over Power injury

RICHIE POWER will learn today whether his season is over when he receives the results of a scan on the knee injury he sustained in a club game on Saturday.

The Carrickshock man fell awkwardly whilst contesting a high ball during his club's league match against James Stephens in Thomastown and was stretchered off in visible distress and Kilkenny management are fearful he may have sustained cruciate ligament damage.

Power was rushed to White's Hotel in Wexford where we was immediately put into their cryotherapy chamber and will learn in Waterford today the full extent of the damage.

It looks, however, like the two-time All Star will be out for a considerable length of time, significantly weakening Kilkenny's hand ahead of their Leinster SHC opener with Dublin, Carlow or Laois in Portlaoise on June 23.

JOHN ALLEN has insisted there are no divisions within his Limerick hurling setup despite the comments from Treaty County icon and now former selector, Ciarán Carey.

Carey quit Allen's backroom team, citing his unhappiness with the physical conditioning of the players as the reason but Allen has denied there is any issue.

"I'm not going to get into any controversy," insisted Allen.

"I'm taking it at face value that he doesn't have the time.

There has been no drama, there has been no dressing room bust up or sideline bust up or ill feeling as far as I am concerned."

DAVID O'CALLAGHAN made a return to Dublin action yesterday in Cappamore, where an experimental Dublin side went down to Limerick by 0-19 to 1-12. O'Callaghan scored 0-4 while Shane Stapleton hit 1-6 for Anthony Daly's side.

LAR CORBETT has left the door slightly ajar for a future return to the Tipperary hurling squad at some stage but says he is sticking by his decision to take time out for the moment.

"It's not that I don't miss the hurling; I definitely do and I am not ruling anything out or in with regard to the future," the former Hurler of the Year explained.

"But whatever happens with the hurling, there's a great bunch of lads in there with Tipp. And with or without me, they will be giving it a massive effort this year."
