Kebab director must pay €1m tax

A DIRECTOR of two firms which formerly held six Abrakebabra franchises has been ordered to pay almost €1m in unpaid taxes and penalties.

High Court president Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns, granted judgment of €930,234 against Mustapha Belhout after rejecting claims that he never received the notice of demand from revenue as "utterly unconvincing and unbelievable".

The Revenue sought €930,000 of unpaid taxes and late penalties from Mr Belhout for arrears of income taxes for the years 2002 to the end of 2008.

Mr Belhout denied he owed the sum claimed by Revenue, and told the court he believed that his personal tax affairs were in order.
