Jonathan Rhys Meyers brings Mara to meet the family
Mara Lane with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and his grandmother
While they have not confirmed their engagement, things must be serious between Jonathan Rhys Meyers and his rumoured fiance Mara Lane as he brought her home to Cork to meet his family.
It was reported that Jonathan (37) popped the question to his film producer girlfriend before Christmas.
Jonathan, who is known for his role in The Tudors, previously dated student Reena Hammer and model Victoria Keon-Cohen.
His new squeeze Mara is clearly taken with Ireland and has been posting numerous pictures, including a few of the couple with his family. She was even teasing that they might move here in the future.
"I am so in love with all things Ireland. Third time here and every visit more magical," she wrote online. Mara previously flew into Dublin with Jonathan last August to a fundraiser for non-profit organisation Barretstown.
After their short trip here, they will now spend the next few months working together in Morocco on upcoming spy thriller, Damascus Cover.
reset
The movie is based on the best-selling 1977 novel by Howard Kaplan and has been reset in 1989, centering on a veteran spy sent undercover to smuggle a chemical weapons scientist and his family out of Damascus.
"I'm enormously excited about this role. This was a significant time in the conflict in the Middle East, post-Cold War and with the collapse of the Berlin Wall when an amount of spies were redeployed to the Middle East, where the theatre of covert operations would now take precedence," Jonathan said of the role.
