Jackpot: Rovers draw Spurs in Europa League
SHAMROCK Rovers earned a dream date with Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham in today’s Europa League group stage draw in Monaco.
Russian outfit Rubin Kazan and PAOK FC from Greece make up Group A. Rovers hit the Euromillions jackpot in Belgrade last night to set themselves up for a payout which will leave the rest of the Airtricity League gasping.
With at least €1m already in the bag, the Hoops will carry the League of Ireland flag to White Hart Lane and Europe backed up by a wave of lucrative domestic and international deals. Last night’s win over Partizan Belgrade set the Hoops up for a €640,000 participation bonus and at least another €360,000 from UEFA in prizemoney from the six games they will play over the next three months.
Rovers have already netted over €500,000 for their Euro exploits.
