it's lov-ato first sight for Simon Cowell

BIG BREAK: FORMER Disney singers are set to take X Factor USA by storm.

Pop princess Demi Lovato (19) is poised to join the reality show for its new season -- hot on the heels of original Disney breakout star Britney Spears who has already signed up for the show -- after show boss Simon Cowell was keen to get both of them onboard.

Demi is best known for her starring roles in the Camp Rock movies and as the star of the 2009 movie Princess Protection Program.

Although Fox isn't commenting on Lovato's hiring, Demi is expected to make an appearance tomorrow at the network's upfront presentation in New York City.

It is also expected that Spears will appear at the event where a formal announcement about the duo joining the show will be made.

Last week, Spears (30) finalised her deal to join the show.

The "Hit Me Baby One More Time" singer will get $15m for one season's worth of work.

X Factor creator Simon Cowell has been open about his desire to add her to the panel.

Before Lovato signed on, it was reported that the show's bosses were courting fellow former Disney star Miley Cyrus.

And The Black Eyed Peas star Fergie and singer Avril Lavigne were also tipped to get the slot.

Judge Simon Cowell has spoken about how he wants to find another One Direction band during the second series of the show.

Irish singer Niall Horan and his bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik were discovered on the 2010 series of the original UK X Factor and have since shot to stardom.

Speaking to a US radio station, Cowell said: "Their album launched in America and debuted at No1. This band were completely unheard of but very talented.

"It would be great to find the next NSync, the next Backstreet Boys, the next Destiny's Child on X Factor -- there is a gap in the market right now for a group like that from America."
