IS controls Iraqi wheat

Islamic State militants now control a large chunk of Iraq's wheat supplies, according to the United Nations.

The UN estimates land under IS control accounts for as much as 40pc of Iraq's annual production of wheat, one of the country's most important food staples.

The group has begun using the grain to deprive opponents of food supplies.
