Irishman seriously injured in Oz attack
AN Irishman has been left with serious facial injuries after being attacked outside an Australian nightclub.
KIERAN Cahill (26), from Co Kerry, was socialising in Sydney in the early hours of Monday morning when he was repeatedly punched and stomped on.
Police believe he was attacked by up to three men.
Two of the alleged culprits were arrested at the scene.
A 24-year-old man – Kiore Ronaki – was charged with reckless bodily harm. A second man, aged 26, was released without charge.
Australian police have released CCTV footage of the third man (right), who is of "Pacific Islander appearance".
It's understood that Kieran was socialising with friends in a nightclub on Goulburn Street at around 1.50am on Monday morning.
Police believe up to three men made "inappropriate comments" to a number of females outside the premises.
Kieran is believed to have intervened on behalf of the women before being set on by the men.
Kieran was rushed to the nearby St Vincent's Hospital, where doctors treated him for a shattered jaw and have inserted a number of plates.
