Injury to Dubs ace Con fresh concern
Con O'Callaghan
Con O'Callaghan may well miss the start of Dublin's National Football League campaign after suffering a shoulder injury prior to yesterday's Sigerson Cup match between UCD and UUJ.
The two-time All Star, who was selected at full-forward for UCD, injured his shoulder in the warm up from a seemingly innocuous exercise.
He was unable to take the field as a result, casting doubt over his availability for Dublin's opener against Kerry on Saturday week.
The Cuala clubman had just returned from Dublin's holiday in Bali a day previously but his absence did not prevent UCD from progressing to the quarter-finals after their 0-13 to 0-11 extra-time success.
He is expected to meet with the Dublin medical team later today to assess the severity of the injury where new manager Dessie Farrell will be hopeful of a positive prognosis.
