Incredible 15th national title for world ranked No 14 Perry

MADELINE PERRY, now a 37-year-old veteran, took her 15th Irish title when she proved too strong for Sligo's Aisling Blake at the National Squash Championships in Fitzwilliam, Dublin.

Perry, ranked No 14 in the world, showed no mercy for the 2013 champion with her fitness playing a big part in her 11-6, 11-5, 11-3 victory.

In an all-Carlow men's final, Irish No 1, Arthur Gaskin beat his his old clubmate Brian Byrne.

Gaskin had won the first game 11-4, but Byrne fought his way back to win a thrilling second game 13-11 and lead 8-5 in the third.

Six consecutive points turned it around for Gaskin, who won the game 11-8 and then wrapped up a great match 11-5 in the fourth.

All three veteran finals went to five games, with an M40 win for Rob Staunton over David Ayerst, Fitzwilliam's own Kevin Moore beating Nick Saunders in the M35 decider and Sarah Berkeley taking the W35 title with victory over fellow Dubliner Suzanne Swan.
