In brief: Teen accused of sex assault
A TEENAGE boy accused of sexually assaulting a Multiple Sclerosis sufferer after she asked him for directions has been refused bail.
The 17-year-old has been charged at the Children's Court with sexual assault of the woman in south Dublin, on a date last March.
He is also accused of theft of a €50 note, a Sim card, and €10 in coins from the woman on the same date.
Yesterday the teen applied for bail, which was refused after gardai objected.
The youth was further remanded in custody to appear again next week.
Binge girl (16)
attacked garda
A TEENAGE girl, who has been in care since she was aged one, has been remanded on continuing bail pending sentence for attacking two gardai following a drinking binge.
The Dublin girl (16) had pleaded guilty at the Children's Court last month to two counts of assaulting gardai last April.
Her case had been adjourned until this week for a probation report.
On Monday, the case was further adjourned for five weeks for an updated report.
Dahl to star in
Beeton show
Model Sophie Dahl will present a documentary about the life of pioneering cookery writer Mrs Beeton.
The star, whose own cookery show The Delicious Miss Dahl received lukewarm reviews, will recreate some of the recipes from the Victorian writer's famous book in the BBC2 show next year.
Mrs Beeton's Book Of Household Management became a bestseller when it was first published in 1861.
Man (36) faces
gun death trial
The Special Criminal Court in Dublin has fixed a date in October next year for the trial of a man accused of murder in Co Donegal.
Martin Kelly (36) of Barrack Street, Strabane, Co Tyrone is charged with the murder of Andrew Burns (27), also from Strabane, at Donnyloop, Castlefin in Co Donegal on February 12, 2008.
Mr Burns was found with gunshot wounds outside a church by teenagers attending a nearby youth club.
