I'll be back... Maura refuses to give up hope for Four Live
ALL the indications are that RTE's Four Live has been axed -- but Maura Derrane is refusing to give up hope.
The presenter hasn't yet been told whether the afternoon series will make a return later this year and says she is gearing up for a comeback.
"All's going well, I'll be going back to Four Live this September. I haven't been told that the show is not coming back," she told Herald.
The current run of the show was dramatically shortened this year, with RTE pulling the plug in March due to cutbacks.
But Maura says that there are always surprises in such a precarious career.
"Until you know the lie of the land, you can't really make any other plans," she said.
QUIET
Regardless of the uncertainty, the Galway woman has a few jobs lined up to see her through the quiet summer season. "I'm doing some of the racing coverage for Ladies' Day and I may be doing some TG4 work as well. That's really it," she said.
However there are other subjects Maura would be keen to sink her teeth into in the future. She said health is a genuine interest of hers and she would love to present a show on the topic.
"That is probably my favourite area on Four Live. We do an awful lot on the show about health because it concerns all of us," she said.
After starting out in news, Maura began her presenting career in 2004 on TV3's Ireland Am and has been in front of the camera ever since. Along with presenting Four Live, she also fronted the highly successful Feirm Factor on TG4 which has just finished its last season.
