Hunt is on for Easter egg tickets to meet Dubs stars
FANS of the Dublin footballers will get the chance to indulge their sweet tooth this Easter -- following the launch of the official Dublin GAA Easter egg.
Choccy-lovers will also get the chance to meet the All-Ireland winning squad -- with five Willy Wonka-style tickets hidden in some of the eggs.
The GAA and the Dublin Players Foundation teamed up with Urney Chocolates, based in Kildare, to produce the €5.99 eggs. Part of the price will go to the foundation, which helps injured players. Urney Chocolates owner Leo Cummins is hoping the idea takes off. "Well it's a good idea. We used to do this for soccer clubs in England so we know it works. There are five Blue Tickets in selected eggs which lets you meet the team, which is great."
There are also 20 Silver Tickets, the finders of which will receive Dublin merchandise signed by the team.
"Its tough competing with brands like Nestle and Cadburys, but we think that kids will want them, especially after the All-Ireland win," Mr Cummins told the Herald.
Urney Chocolates had huge success with the Jedward Easter Egg last year, and their egg will be on the shelves again this Easter. "That was a great success, as we had a Golden Ticket to meet Jedward in one of the eggs, and kids went mad for it," said Mr Cummins.
Dublin's star player Alan Brogan tweeted a picture of the GAA egg on sale in JC Savages in Swords.
