PRESENTER Eoghan McDermott has finally landed his dream job in RTE -- after working hard to become hot property in the UK.

After years of trying to break into RTE, and even a move to London, Eoghan McDermott has been revealed as part of RTE's new line-up of stars.

The former TG4 and SPIN 103.8 presenter has been announced as the new backstage presenter of RTE talent show The Voice Of Ireland, alongside Kathryn Thomas.

And Eoghan believes his decision to leave Irish shores may have been the best thing for his career. He says that now everyone wants a piece of him. "As soon as you are going away, all of a sudden you seem really exotic, everybody wants to give me work now," he told the Herald.

"As soon as I announced I was leaving RTE asked me to do a new series, Frenemies.

"I had been knocking on RTE's doors for the past two years asking for work and now all of sudden they love me," he said.

Emigrate

Eoghan is no newcomer to the scene. The DCU graduate kicked off his career by landing Dermot O'Leary's job in London radio's Xfm -- after he was forced emigrate due to the lack of opportunities for him here.

His lucky break came when he hit it off with the boss from Xfm while working with the Dublin station SPIN.

He was then whisked off to London for bigger and better things and

saw huge success on the airwaves.

Now he has finally bagged his dream job and become part of RTE's biggest talent show

"I've always wanted to be a TV presenter. I've had some near

misses with TV jobs in the UK."

The Voice will take off in early 2012 .
