Hope for jobs at collapsed Celtic

MORE than half the jobs at collapsed Celtic Bookmakers are to be saved.

The company, which was headed up by Newstalk's Ivan Yates (pictured), went into receivership earlier this month. It owed AIB more than €6m and it was believed that 237 jobs were in jeopardy.

But it has emerged that many of the positions are to be saved when the business is sold off to competing bookmakers.

Reports today revealed that receiver Neil Hughes has had 44 expressions of interest in the business. There are more than 40 Celtic Bookmakers shops around the country, 11 are in Dublin. Two have closed, with the loss of six jobs, since the receiver was put in place.
