Go with tried and Tested on day three
Punters on Weld watch again tomorrow are unlikely to have to look much further than Tested (pictured) in the Arthur Guinness EBF Corrib Fillies Stakes.
A race only in its third year at the Galway Festival, Weld won it last year with Yellow Rosebud and the Prince Khalid Abdullah-owned Tested can give him back-to-back wins in the race.
Rated 105, that being the highest in the line-up, Tested is three from four with her sole defeat coming when sixth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh behind Marvellous.
Weld is no stranger to running nice types around Galway and in a race that could well be dominated by three-year-old fillies, Tested could be another name we hear a lot more of.
Previous course-and-distance winner Jayed Jidan will have to defy top weight to win the Guinness Time Handicap over an extended mile but the son of Teofilo is running off just two pounds higher than when winning at the Curragh on his third-last outing and, like all the Weld team, he is likely to be well primed for this occasion.
Sticking to the flat action tomorrow and Ridestan is a horse who ran well here on Monday night in the opener when finishing second to Mckinley and if turning out again for Denis Hogan, he may be able to make it two on the bounce on the flat having won at Killarney earlier in the month.
Proceedings get underway with the beginners chase that was won last year by today's Galway Plate contender Golden Wonder and Michael Hourigan's Our Man Zebo is given the nod to make a winning start over fences.
Rated 127 over hurdles, the seven-year-old is a point-to-point winner so shouldn't lack experience and can hopefully oblige.
In the Guinness Harp Novice Chase, Alelechi Inois is picked to complete his hat-trick and maintain his unbeaten start over the larger obstacles.
In the concluding bumper champion point-to-point rider Jamie Codd will renew his association with Port Rock who should relish the quick surface and having bumped into a good one at Down Royal last time he may go one better on this occasion at a price.
