Gardai zap row man with Taser
A YOUNG man armed with a slash-hook was Tasered by gardai after a superintendent was forced to jump over the bonnet of a parked car just to escape him, a court heard.
The incidents were outlined to Cork District Court after Gavin Ring (20) appeared in relation to alleged incidents at Gurranabraher in the early hours of Monday.
Twelve gardai went to a house in St Anne's Road where it was alleged one man was holding a number of people against their will.
They managed to bring the situation under control but Ring is then alleged to have arrived and started behaving in an extremely threatening manner.
Garda Shane Fitzgerald said Ring was carrying a slash-hook and ignored numerous garda instructions to drop it.
At one point, Supt Con Cadogan -- who was directing the garda operation -- had to jump over the bonnet of a parked car to evade Ring, who was Tasered in the leg.
Ring was remanded in custody until tomorrow.
