Galway install Dunne

FORMER Cork City boss Tommy Dunne is back in football after he was unveiled as the manager of newly-formed side Galway FC.

Only three seasons ago Galway had three clubs in the League of Ireland (Galway United, Salthill Devon and Mervue United) but following lengthy talks among the football community in the city, just one side - Galway FC - will be in senior football next season, and they have drafted in Dubliner Dunne as their manager.

"I had a number of offers but this is the job that caught my fancy," said Dunne. "It's a chance to build a club, I enjoyed doing that in Cork and I am delighted to be given the chance again. There is good talent coming through and allied with one or two more players, maybe Galway lads plying their trade elsewhere, we can get a good side together."
