Galway fire

Gardai in Galway are investigating a fire which completely destroyed one home and damaged two more.

Six people had to be evacuated from the homes in Tirellan Heights in the city shortly before 6am. Three units of the fire brigade battled the blaze which was brought under control around three hours later.

Firefighters were called back to the scene at 11am after the burnt out home began to smoulder once again.

A number of other homes also had to be evacuated. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Gardai are now investigating the cause of the fire.
