TOTTENHAM'S Brad Friedel was full of praise for Tim Krul after the Newcastle goalkeeper pulled off a string of spectacular saves at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Krul kept Spurs at bay throughout the game as Loic Remy's goal proved to be enough to earn Newcastle a 1-0 victory.
The Holland international was unbeatable as he made tremendous saves to deny Roberto Soldado, Paulinho and Gylfi Sigurdsson amongst others.
Friedel, who started in goal for Spurs with Hugo Lloris not medically cleared to play after being knocked unconscious at Everton, made his 450th Premier League appearance but was left hailing the performance of his counterpart.
"Krul was outstanding," said Friedel.
"We were very poor, to our standards, in the first half but we still carved out two or three decent chances and he made two great saves.
"In the second half there were consequences of balls just hitting him or him making great saves, and it's a day that he'll remember I'm sure.
"As a goalkeeper we've all had them. He's had one here so he is going to go home feeling a million dollars, that's for sure."
With Lloris sidelined, 42-year-old Friedel was making his first league appearance since March and he is ready to step back and allow Lloris to return when ready.
Confidence
"He (Lloris) wished me luck, we have a really good relationship," he added.
"If I play, he really wants me to do well. If he plays, I really want him to do well. When I signed here, they were looking for a long-term number one and they have found a very good one. If I need to deputise, I will try to do it to the best of my ability."
Krul was pleased with his own performance and was delighted to see Alan Pardew's side record a second straight league victory after beating Chelsea the previous week.
"I'm over the moon," he said.
"It is a great confidence boost for everybody. We had a major disappointment losing the derby against Sunderland but the response has been amazing from us. We have two home games coming up now so hopefully we can kick on."
