Foster vows attacking policy for Glens visit

The Co Louth club are making their competition debut in the Setanta this season but they have taken to the cross-border cup with enthusiasm, with wins away to Linfield and Glentoran.

Dundalk hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg in the Oval thanks to Mark Quigley's goal but Foster insists that his side won't sit back and defend their lead.

"Like the Linfield game, we'll play on the front foot and go and try to score the first goal. You could see that that took the wind out of Linfield's sails when we did, and if we can get the first goal against Glentoran it will make their job that much more difficult," says Foster.

"I don't think there will be any surprises when Glentoran come here. We know their personnel and we know that they're a good side, and we know that 1-0 is a very slim advantage.

His side extended their unbeaten home run on Friday by holding Bohemians to a 0-0 draw at Oriel Park, though some of the home fans felt cheated by the result as a challenge on Daniel Kearns by Ollie Cahill could have yielded a penalty.

"I was delighted with the performance against Bohemians, we played against a very experienced back five, probably as experienced as you'll get this in this league, and we were unfortunate not to come away with maximum points," Foster added.

"The main talking point of the game was whether it was a penalty for Ollie Cahill's challenge on Daniel Kearns, and having seen the video I think I was a penalty.

"We're unbeaten at home and we kept a clean sheet on Friday so we have to take the positives from that, our second clean sheet in three games and that's decent form."
