Flynn final fears

PAUL Flynn has no more than a 50/50 chance of making the All-Ireland final on September 18 after a scan on his injured hamstring revealed a tear.

The Fingallians man faces a furious battle to be fit to face Kerry after suffering the injury in the closing stages of Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final win over Donegal.

One of Dublin’s most consistent performers during this year’s championship, Flynn could be out from anywhere between two and four weeks depending on the scale of the injury and his response to treatment.

If Pat Gilroy’s worst fears are confirmed, however, and Flynn is ruled out, Kevin McManamon looks the most likely replacement after his impressive cameo from the bench on Sunday.

Dublin are still awaiting word from Croke Park as to the length of Diarmuid Connolly’s suspension but are preparing a case to clear the the St Vincent’s man, presuming he is hit with the mandatory four-week ban.

Good news for manager Pat Gilroy comes in the form of full-back Rory O’Carroll, who is set to be fit for the clash with Kerry despite limping off in the first half of Sunday’s semi-final victory.
