Fergie's mind games

United boss backs Chelsea for City clash

ALEX FERGUSON has entered mind games mode and given Chelsea a big vote of confidence before their midweek showdown with Manchester City.

“Chelsea are back to form. It's a really interesting, big game,” said Fergie, fully aware that defeat for Roberto Mancini on Wednesday would put clear air between the two Manchester rivals.

Ferguson believes that the title could yet be decided by tiny margins and that Manchester United’s 5-0 win over Wolves yesterday was very significant because of City’s superior goal difference.

“The number of goals was very important and it could be significant by the end of season. We've got the goal difference deficit with Manchester City down by five to three and we hope we can catch them up.

“There are 10 games left now and it's just a matter of cutting off the games one by one. We expect it to go the wire,” he said.
