Fenlon says future could lie with Bohs
PAT FENLON could stay at Bohemians for next season - if the club are able to safely emerge from their cash crisis.
Bohs are heading into a big weekend with Sunday's FAI Ford Cup semi-final at home to Sligo Rovers -- and a place in the final on November 6 would be a massive achievement for Fenlon and his squad, which was assembled just before the season started.
Of course, it's not all rosy in the Bohs camp as the club is struggling to deal with a debt of at least €6.5m, including a €4m bank loan, which has to be repaid next year, and the only way the club can be saved is with the sale of Dalymount Park, albeit for a fraction of the €60m value placed on the ground when Bohs did an initial deal for the sale in 2006, at the peak of the boom.
Relations between Fenlon and the board have been non-existent for the past few months as the manager, who won two league titles with the club, was angry at a number of aspects of how the club was being run.
But after a meeting with club officials this week, Fenlon says that he can now see a future.
"I had a meeting with the board. It went OK," he said.
"It's important that we all pull in one direction. I've never said that I wanted to go.
"I like managing the club, I've been here four years and it's been enjoyable. If the club want me to stay I've got a year left on my contract."
Bohs go into the semi with major problems as Liam Burns, Anto Flood and Chris Fagan are suspended while defender Aidan Price is a doubt.
