Féile factor can frame success for Dublin

GERRY WHITE doesn't need a fortune teller to predict that the sun will continue to shine on the blue-bricked road.

It's not all paved with gold, and there are many hills left to climb, but the future still holds an appealing glint.

Gerry manages Ballyboden St Enda's with Terry O'Neill, Catherine Nagle, Edel Tevlin and Denise O'Neill.

The Famous Five led 'Boden to Division 1 Féile glory, but it's the bigger picture that also pleases Gerry.

"All our matches in the Dublin Féile were tight. And that bodes well for the future. Instead of two teams heading away from the rest, you now have five, six or seven clubs that are capable of competing at the top level.

"That's what we need for the betterment of Dublin camogie. The game is certainly on the up in the capital. There is no doubt about it.

"Even looking back on the final against Lucan, the two sides deserve huge credit for displaying that level of skill and fitness in such sweltering heat."

Gerry feels that when the National Féile comes to town in July, the Dubs will be up there with the best of them. "It's such a huge boost to Dublin to be hosting Féile. It's a proud feeling to be going in as Dublin Division 1 champions.

"But everybody will want to beat us now. We are well aware of that. It took us a long time to be successful in the Dublin Féile. We lost the final a couple of years ago and things didn't go great last season.

"But the girls have just been phenomenal. But now we have to prepare well so that we are ready to give our best in the national Féile."
