Ex-Dubs boss Dardis behind Blues for Kerry revenge clash

THE Cork seal of approval - from one of Dublin's favourite sons.

On Sunday, Dublin recorded a historic two-point All-Ireland 'B' Championship semi-final triumph over Cork in Glanworth.

They'll now meet Kerry in the Aisling McGing final next month. Beating Cork on their home turf is something to email home about.

Brendan Dardis was managing the Cork Bs. He is a former Dublin manager and was once a leading official in the capital.

Following the game, Brendan was full of praise for the Dublin display. He complimented the all-round industry of the Blues.

"I'll be wearing my blue jersey for the final," quipped Brendan following the pulsating encounter.

Notable

It was a notable result for manager, Pat Stritch, and his co-mentors, Eamonn O'Donnell, Joe Keane, Grainne Burke, Fiona Walsh and Paul O'Donovan.

In the group stage, Dublin had already lost to Cork in Fermoy. They fell to Kerry in their second game, but then defeated Meath and Kildare.

In Sunday's other semi-final, Kerry comfortably overcame Meath in Killarney.

Since the competition began in 2007, Cork and Dublin have contested every final, with Dublin's only success coming in 2010.

The boss-man, Pat Stritch, is a firm believer in the tournament, and he strongly believes it should be expanded.

His daughter Sarah missed Sunday's triumph through injury, but she knows the victory was the perfect Father's Day present for the Margaret's maestro.
