Ex denies he made fire threat

A DUBLIN man threatened to burn down his estranged partner's house during a drunken row, a court has been told.

Alan Geraghty (37) is alleged to have made the threat in front of gardai, who were called to the house in Finglas.

Geraghty, of Mellowes Road in Finglas, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with threatening to damage property last October by saying he would use petrol to burn the house down.

The alleged threat was made in front of Garda Sean Murphy.

It is claimed that Geraghty threatened to leave and come back to the house.

But the court heard the alleged threat was "not sinister" and was in the context of a domestic dispute.

Judge Early said he would accept jurisdiction of the charge.

Defence solicitor Conor Ruane outlined Geraghty's intention to plead not guilty.

The matter was adjourned to a date in January for hearing.
