Weatherman Deric goes to hell and back for charity

HE'S more used to predicting the weather, but TV3 presenter Deric Hartigan showed he's not afraid to brave the elements as he sported some very short shorts for charity.

Deric, and 2,900 other hardy souls, braved the January weather and went to "hell and back" in aid of charity.

Fundraisers waded through mud and swampy ditches, climbed obstacles and raced across 10km of rough terrain during the Hell and Back Trojan. The strength-sapping event took place in Killruddery Estate, Co Wicklow.

Contestants ran through Satan's Pit, a pond and a river, scaled 7ft walls, crawled under barbed wire and ran through the "shock of horrors" – complete with small electric zaps.

Celebs including soccer star Damien Duff and model Daniella Moyles have previously tested their limits on the course.
