Fox Sports in the US is to air a documentary about Crumlin mixed martial arts star superstar Conor McGregor.

The programme was aired on RTE2 in March this year, and followed his progress in the high stakes world of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Produced by Motive Television, Reality Bites: The Notorious will be shown in a primetime slot on January 8, in the US.

The documentary will be broadcast on America's largest sports network in the lead up to McGregor's next fight in Boston later that month.

The DVD of the one-hour documentary will also be launched nationwide this weekend. It followed McGregor over the most important six months of his fighting career.

It tells the story of how he shot to fame after his UFC debut in Stockholm - where he blew away his opponent in just 67 seconds - through to his fight and American debut in August 2013.

The documentary followed McGregor from Dublin to Boston, via Las Vegas, and offered the audience an access-all-areas look into the rollercoaster ride that is the UFC.

The journey from his gym in Crumlin to the biggest fight of his life in Boston was a long and gruelling one.

"We are delighted that Fox Sports have acquired our Conor McGregor documentary, The Notorious," said series Producer Jamie D'Alton.

"The documentary gives a rare insight into one of Ireland's most talked about sports people showcasing Conor's unique blend of talent, personality and self-belief.

"With a total reach of 90m homes, Fox Sports is one of America's largest sports networks and their decision to acquire the documentary for peak time demonstrates the quality of the programme and how big a star Conor McGregor has become," he said.
