Time to Party

Catherine's Family Kitchen

RTE1, 8.30pm Chef Catherine Fulvio (below) dispenses with the usual fare of cocktail sausages and sweets as she prepares an alternative menu for her daughter's ninth birthday party. Instead she opts for a sticky chicken snack, apple berry jelly, pink lemonade and Vietnamese beef salad. (Salad . . . at a children's party? Should be leftovers there so.)

Have I Got News for You

BBC1, 9pm Inbetweeners' star Greg Davies and TV critic Grace Dent join regular team captains, smartypants Ian Hislop and deadpan king Paul Merton on the satirical current affairs quiz.

in the hot seat

BBC2, 8pm Host John Humphrys welcomes contestants to the black chair in the specialist and general knowledge quiz, as the hunt begins to find the next Mastermind (and we don't mean the genius who came up with the wording for the failed Oireachtas referendum). The topics in the first edition are the Life of Robert Bruce Lockhart, Human Parasites (Irish bankers have obviously become a specialised subject), the Siege of Malta and the Life and Work of AC Swinburne.
