INDIAN RUNNER

Channel 4, 9pm

Eight Oscars, seven Baftas and four Golden Globes later, this 2008 Danny Boyle blockbuster ticks all the boxes.

It follows an illiterate orphan (Dev Patel) from Mumbai's slums, who's on the verge of winning India's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.

The authorities call foul play, failing to see how a kid from the wrong side of the tracks could land the jackpot.

LIVE AND DIE

BBC2, 9pm

When swine flu first took hold, those in the know predicted many thousands would die. But this forecast proved to be way over the top. While an estimated 10,000 people have died from the virus, many of them were already suffering from underlying medical conditions.

How come the medical experts got it so wrong?
