Former reality star Kelly Donegan has revealed that she believes appearing on Tallafornia damaged her modelling career.

The ex-model is best known for being on the TV3 show but she said she has lost out on jobs because of her reality star image.

"I've always been very career driven and when I did Tallafornia it took me on a different path than I had intended," Kelly (inset) said.

"All I ever wanted to do was modelling, and Tallafornia closed a lot of doors for me in that industry.

"I think the stereotype that comes along with reality TV is hard to shake. It was a case that I had to re-brand and re-look at things."

Since her modelling work dried up, Kelly has branched out into body-building and has represented Ireland at the European Body-Building Championships.

Speaking on the Anton Savage Show on Today FM, the brunette said she has "grown up" since the show.

"I don't think I'd be doing all the things I'm doing now without it," she said. "In some ways I have to be grateful but I've definitely grown up and moved on to greener pastures."
