It's Monday. It's less than two weeks from Christmas .. Of course you're staying in. Here's the best of what the TV has to offer this evening


RTE1, 9.35pm

THIS documentary about the private rental sector in Dublin, where 37 per cent of homes are rented according to the most recent census. The programme focuses on the experiences of both landlords and tenants during the busy autumn season in the city, including young couple Kyle and Amanda Jones, letting agent Karen Burrows and single mother-of-three Amanda Scanlon. If you're renting your home and your lease is almost up, you'll get nervous even watching this, we'd wager.



TV3, 8.00pm

FROM the Hackney Empire in London, Phillip Schofield hosts the star-studded ceremony celebrating the best of Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors over the past 12 months. Famous faces from the entertainment world hand out awards in 14 categories, including Villain of the Year, featuring Charlie Brooks (EastEnders’ Janine), Dominic Power (Emmerdale’s resident serial killer Cameron) and no less than three Hollyoaks baddies – Greg Wood (Trevor), Jesse Birdsall (Fraser) and Anna Passey (Sienna).



UTV, 7.30pm

MICHAEL McIntyre hosts the entertainment extravaganza from the London Palladium in the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The star-studded line-up of performers includes Shirley Bassey, Bette Midler, Ed Sheeran, Niall Horan’s One Direction, Ellie Goulding, McBusted, Simply Red, Demi Lovato, Alfie Boe and Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro. Also on the bill are Stephen Mulhern, Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s Inala, the casts of Miss Saigon and hit cabaret La Soiree, the soprano Pumeza, and the comedy talents of Jack Whitehall, Trevor Noah, Russell Kane, Sarah Millican and Rod Woodward.



CHANNEL 4, 10.35pm

STEVEN is reunited with an old flame he hasn’t seen since they starred together in an American soap opera back in the 1980s. Now married to Josh Homme of the rock band Queens of the Stone Age, is Lorna still in love with Toast, or simply using him to make her husband jealous? The tormented actor seeks refuge in the home of his old friend Francis Bacon, who everyone seems to think is dead. Guest starring Morgana Robinson and Steve Pemberton. Last in the series.



TV3. 7pm

IT’S the day of the village craft fair and Zak encourages Belle to get involved and enter her picture into the art competition, while Chrissie insists she’s not going to let Lachlan out of her sight as she brings in his entry. Later, Belle is overwhelmed to learn her painting has won, but there’s a shock in store when the locals see it has been slashed. Aaron uses Finn to make Robert jealous, and as Harriet explains she has been charged with burglary, Ashley looks set to benefit from her misfortune.
