UTV, 7.30pm Peter Kay hosts the annual bash where stars perform in the presence of royalty; this time Princess Anne got the short straw. Music is provided by the likes of Barry Manilow, Leona Lewis, Il Divo, Nicole Scherzinger (left), Tony Bennett and Pixie Lott, plus there are routines from Jason Manford, Penn & Teller, and more.



TG4, 11.30pm Fascinating insight into mystical methods used to predict meteorological conditions (and no we don't mean Evelyn Cusack in a witch's costume). We get a handy tutorial from postman Michael Gallagher, who has been learning the skill of weather prediction for 40 years. Just what we need with the winter winds beginning to blow in earnest.


Steve Jobs: Billion Dollar Hippy

BBC2, 9pm Evan Davis traces the history of Steve Jobs' time in control at Apple, with contributions from insiders, including the company's co-founder Steve Wozniak, world wide web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, branding guru Rita Clifton and (er) Stephen Fry. Davis learns how Jobs, a college dropout, was involved in the company's rise from operating out of a garage to becoming a global brand.


SuperScrimpers: a Christmas special
