Seoige sisters spark TV ratings war with rival talent searches

BROADCASTER Sile Seoige is set to take on her big sister Grainne in the ratings war later this month after landing a new TV gig.

The Diary can reveal how the glamorous Galwegian, who also presents her own weekend show called Sile's Shenanigans on Newstalk, is set to make her return to the small screen hosting a new talent show for Irish language station TG4.

Similar to her sibling's RTE series, The All Ireland Talent Show, Feis and Blood aims to find a new super-star family and invites aspiring candidates to show off their skills, whether it's singing, dancing, playing music or otherwise.

Sile (31) will join a panel of three judges which includes former host of RTE's The Lyrics Board Aonghus McAnally, as well as Sibeal Davitt and Padraig O Se.

And while the 13-week series, which debuts on Sunday, January 30 at 7.15pm, will overlap with the time slot of Grainne's show, those close to the sisters' insist there is no competitiveness between the high-profile presenters.

"Grainne is delighted for Sile and would never begrudge her an opportunity like this," said an RTE insider.

"She's very busy with her own career on ITV's Daybreak and is secure in her role with RTE. As far as she's concerned a bit of competition between shows is always healthy.

"The two sisters are still as close as ever after Seoige was axed and are now busy working on their own individual projects.

"In fact Grainne has been giving Sile lots of advice about her new gig and believes it's going to be a big success for her," they added.
