Ryan Tubridy is focusing on work following his split with long-term girlfriend Aoibheann Ni Shuilleabhain (inset right).

The couple announced they had parted ways last month after being together for four years, but Ryan says he's found a new joy in his work recently.

"I'm really enjoying work immensely and I'm putting more time into it behind the scenes," he told the Herald. "I feel even more curious about people and guests and items - it's good, I'm on a creative buzz at the moment."

The Late Late Show is also set to unveil a new set tonight and Ryan is excited for the change.

"It's a big deal for me personally because it needed a change," he said.

"The set was from five years ago and I'd been looking for a new one. It's more New York and like a loft. To me it's unique and very new to RTE - very warm.

"The music area is different now too - performers now will have a really good place to go and the band have a gallery area upstairs," he continued.

"I wanted it to be relaxed and I think guests from the UK and US will come in now and say, 'Wow, this is really high end'.

"The seats are even gone - it should have always been a couch and now it is.

"My desk is amazing - and clearly I'm very happy with it," he added.

Ryan is also writing a children's book which he says will be out next year.

"We've got an illustrator and a really top class one," he said. "I just did a second draft of it on Monday and it's really cute and old school but it won't appear for about a year.

"The illustrations will take a while, but it's a gorgeous side project, a good distraction," he added.
