X FACTOR hopeful Sophie Habibas' dream of stardom was shattered in a phone call by mentor Kelly Rowland.

The 19-year-old has been sent packing from the series after Destiny's Child star Kelly chose Misha B to go through to the next round.

Kelly tuned in to last night's results programme from the US and sealed London girl Sophie's fate by sending her home after the sing-off, after she sang The XX track Shelter.

Each of the judges chose the pretty barmaid to leave.

Take That's Gary Barlow dubbed Sophie "dull as dishwater", after she sang Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang.

Mayo man Louis Walsh was also critical of Sophie's on stage talent personality: "For me there is something missing, it it's like you're a secretary that sings at the weekend or something."

Kelly created a media storm when it was revealed she would was out a throat infection -- leaving her acts to prepare for the Halloween special without her.

X Factor bosses scrambled to get a replacement and hastily brought in 2009 X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.

Irish hopeful Janet Devlin sailed into the next stage of live finals, but was left in tears over her song choice.

"I've been crying backstage after my performance and I'm not happy about it at all at the moment," the 16-year-old Tyrone native said.
