They’re best known for their roles on the Voice of Ireland, but now singer Bressie and presenter Eoghan McDermott are teaming up for a new radio role.

The broadcasting duo, who are close friends, have been lined up to present 2FM’s morning show Breakfast Republic next week while normal regular presenters Jennifer Maguire, Bernard O’Shea and Keith Walsh are off on leave.

While the show will be Bressie’s first foray into working on the  radio presenting, Eoghan is no stranger to talking on the airwaves.

Last week RTE announced the 32-year-old will present a new weekday show 4.30pm to 7pm on 2FM from September – taking over from veteran Colm Hayes, who will take on a new weekend morning slot.

The broadcaster He also filled in for regular presenter Louise McSharry while she battled cancer earlier this year.

Eoghan has carved out a successful career for himself in TV and radio, but he recently revealed when he was younger he had different plans for his future.

“I probably would’ve been a teacher or a garda,” he told the Herald.

“That’s what I wanted to do. My mum and dad were both teachers and my dad recommended a lot of text for the Leaving Cert English syllabus, so it has always been an exam and education-aware household.”
