Love/Hate's Aaron glad to bask in limelight

HIS best friend Jack Gleeson may have vowed to turn his back on celebrity, but Love/Hate actor Aaron Heffernan has no intention of shying away from the limelight.

The 23-year-old Dubliner told the Herald that he knew Game of Thrones star Jack had never warmed to fame.

"He enjoyed it, but after the first while it was obvious that he didn't like that fame stuff," Aaron said.

"I wasn't surprised at all by what he said, about taking a step back. I knew it would happen eventually. It's strange to get your head around someone who's done such cool things and is still doing them, but wants to back away from it all."

While he became instantly recognisable as drug squad member Gavin in the fourth season of Love/Hate, Trinity College graduate Aaron says he has yet to experience anything like the attention Jack has received. "I haven't felt the pangs of recognition or fame like Jack has – he was disillusioned by the whole thing – and I have yet to experience," he said.

The actor was taking part in the annual 24 Hour Plays at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin last night. Joining him on stage at the event, which was a fundraiser for Dublin Youth Theatre, were Domhnall Gleeson and Kelly Campbell.
