Louis laughs off elimination scrap after Gary storms out

DEFIANT X Factor Judge Louis Walsh has brushed aside the controversy of last night's elimination -- saying he can't wait for next week's show.

Louis (60) became caught up in the first flash point of the new series on the live show when Rylan Clark was dramatically saved and contestant Carolynne Poole was sent home -- despite a stunning performance in the sing-off.

The decision followed endless dithering by judge Louis, who initially said he wanted to save Carolynne (32), and then controversially made a dramatic U-turn and took the decision to deadlock.

To boos and hisses from the audience, Louis said: "I'm sorry, I'm changing my mind -- I want to take it to deadlock."

Rylan (23) received the most votes from the public to stay in the competition.

After hearing his act was the first to be booted off, and clearly disgusted with Louis, head judge Gary Barlow stormed off the stage describing the decision as a "joke".

But Louis did not seem to be too bothered by Gary's outburst. The TV star happily tweeted "can't wait for next week's show" after Carolynne was booted off.

He also advised irate viewers to "take deep breaths" when they bombarded him with messages criticising his decision.

Some fans later claimed on Twitter the decision was rigged after a figure was seen whispering to Walsh during the show.

But a spokesman for the ITV1 show said: "Producers always chat to judges during the show."
