RTE star Kathryn Thomas' blossoming radio career has been given another boost, after the blonde beauty was approached by RTE bosses to fill in for Ryan Tubridy when he takes his summer leave next month.
The Herald can reveal how bubbly Kathryn (30) will begin her next stint on the airwaves on June 7, when Ryan takes a week off to holiday with his young daughters.
Already this year the Carlow native was drafted in to fill in for Ryan in March when he took time off to go to Washington for St Patrick's Day and again in April when he took a week off.
Speculation is now rife that the Carlow native could be drafted in to step into the host's shoes permanently if he lands the slot on 2fm left vacant following the death of his friend and colleague, Gerry Ryan.
"I'm doing another week for him next month and I'm really looking forward to that," she told the Herald.
"Television is definitely my bread and butter and that's where I want to stay but if I could kind of get into radio as well that would be great," she added.
Kathryn made quite a splash last weekend when she was the only one brave enough to mention the now-infamous Johnny Ronan row while on stage alongside both Rosanna Davison and Glenda Gilson during the TVNow Awards at the Mansion House.
The Winning Streak co-host was wearing a striking red dress by fashion label Stop Staring, having seen it worn by American beauty Kim Kardashian weeks earlier.
"It's the exact same one Kim wore. I got it from a boutique in Malahide that my friend owns.
"I loved it when I saw it on her. I thought she looked amazing. I'm not a skinny, skinny girl and she has curves and rocked it -- so I thought, why not?"
