Daithi O Se has said he found it tough going back to work after spending the Christmas holidays at home with his wife Rita and their young son Michael Og.

Daithi (38), who presents the Today show on RTE One with Maura Deranne, admitted it was difficult to leave his family.

"The show started back on Monday and it was hard to leave the young fella after having two-and-a-half weeks at home," he told the Herald.

"We'd fierce fun altogether - we dressed him up in a dicky bow and everything on Christmas Day.

"Still, I do get to see him every morning because he wakes up around six so I get a few hours with him, which is lovely.

"As my wife Rita says, he's always in good form in the mornings so it's easy before I have to go to work, but I found it hard enough now going back."

Co-presenter Maura had a baby boy, Cal, not long after Michael Og was born and so the pair share parenting stories on set.

"We're sharing more ailments than advice, that's what's happening at the moment," said Daithi (above).

"Maura's little fella is about two months behind mine so I'm always telling her what's coming down the line.

"It's just a bit of craic as well, really."
