Presenter Mary Kennedy (57) has revealed that when she is not working she loves nothing more than getting back to basics and wearing no make-up.

"When I'm at home – and you can ask my neighbours this – I don't feel the need to dress up. When I don't have to be dressed up, I'm not," she said.

SHOPPING

"I don't feel the need to go out shopping with make-up on. Sometimes you'd meet people out and they'd say, 'Oh I see you on Nationwide – and look at the state of you now!'"

The TV presenter and author will be fighting it out for a gong in this year's Peter Mark VIP Style Awards.

A previous winner, she said it was "very flattering" to be nominated again.

The presenter has also spoken on her sympathy for single mothers in work.

She said it is "very difficult" for Irish women to juggle busy jobs with having children.
