GMTV revamp goes on -- now Castle quits sofa

Andrew Castle is quitting GMTV after a "fantastic 10 years", he said today.

The presenter and former tennis player's move comes just days after the departure of Penny Smith, who bade a tearful farewell last week.

Ben Shephard is also set to quit the breakfast show, which is undergoing a revamp.

The latest departure to be announced follows months of speculation about the future of the programme's presenters.

Adrian Chiles has signed a deal with ITV which will see him take a seat on the sofa.

John Stapleton has recently taken on a new special correspondent role on the programme, covering big news stories.

Castle is set to bow out of his job in early September.
