Girls Aloud star Nicola takes up her seat at the Top Model table

Nicola Roberts is following in Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole's footsteps by turning TV judge. The singer will appear as a guest panellist on Britain's Next Top Model on Living next week.

Roberts will appear alongside presenter Elle Macpherson to mentor the modelling hopefuls. She will be seen guiding them through a photoshoot for children's charity Beatbullying.

Roberts tells the contestants: "The most important thing is that you're able to put as much emotion into your photograph as possible, because the photographs will really help thousands of young people in the UK."

The wannabes take part in a demanding shoot demonstrating the effects that bullying can have. Roberts will then sit on the panel to determine who will leave the competition.

Like Cole, Roberts already has first-hand experience of being a reality show contestant, having hit the big time by winning a place in Girls Aloud on Popstars: The Rivals.

Since then she has launched her own cosmetics line.

Britain's Next Top Model sees 14 hopefuls -- including Irish contestant Sue Loughnane -- battling it out to earn a contract with top agency Models 1. And for the first time, the winner will be decided by public vote in a live final in October.

Viewers can see Roberts in episode four of Britain's Next Top Model, which airs on Living on Monday July 26 at 9pm.
