Funny girl Katherine is a serious actress – Maguire

SHE has built up an image as one of Ireland's most outrageous sketch artists, but Dubliner Katherine Lynch is a serious actress – that's according to her co-star Jennifer Maguire, who got some valuable acting tips from the funny woman.

The pair lead the way in new RTE drama, The Centre, and radio and TV host Jennifer said she relished getting her teeth into the acting role.

"I had such a laugh filming The Centre last year," Jennifer told the Herald. "It was a very different role for me, I was wearing a burka in the scenes so it was challenging, but all the guys know what they are doing so I loved it."

It was certainly a change for the Dubliner who plays a Muslim in the new comedy, while Wagon's Den star Lynch reprises her role as traveller woman Bernie Walsh.

"Katherine (pictured) is just hilarious, but she's also a very talented actress and takes the whole thing very seriously.

"People don't see her behind the camera and the amount of work and thought she puts into everything."

The Republic of Telly star was joined by a host of female actors for the new comedy about the comings and goings at a ramshackle community centre.

The comedy also features Sue Collins, former Clinic actress Norma Sheahan and ex-Love/Hate star Denise McCormack.
